Lents Town Center
Completed Projects: 92nd Avenue Sidewalks
Overview
The Lents Town Center Urban Renewal Plan includes public improvement projects necessary to support the plan’s urban renewal objectives. Improvements of SE 92nd Avenue between Holgate Blvd. and Powell Blvd. were identified as a priority. Project development planning was completed in Fall of 2004; design engineering took place during the 2005-2006 Fiscal Year, with the project receiving a Transportation Enhancement grant from Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) in 2006. This grant helped enable the project to move into the construction phase during 2006-2007.
The 92nd Ave. Improvement project was completed in 2007 and has been showcased as an example of “Green Street” construction and was featured in the National Transportation Enhancements newsletter (PDF).
The goals of the project were to beautify the streetscape using sustainable stormwater management while providing a safer pedestrian environment by creating a buffer between pedestrians and the street.
Improvements included:
- Sidewalk construction
- Bike lanes
- Curbs/drainage
- Landscaping
- Lighting
Relationship to the URA Plan
This project supports the Transportation goal of the Lents Town Center Urban Renewal Plan by providing “safe and convenient access to homes and businesses within the Area.” The project also supports the Neighborhood Revitalization goal by investing in public infrastructure.
