After: Albina Triangle Redesign, 45 00 N. Albina
During the seven and a half years since the inception of the Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Area, several important Parks projects have been completed or are being undertaken by Portland Development Commission (PDC) staff, with the support of the Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Advisory Committee (ICURAC), including:
- Trenton Park Play Area Improvements (Spring 2006)
- Albina Triangle (Summer 2007)
- Patton Park Renovation (Summer 2008)
- Dawson Park Gazebo (Summer 2008)
- Brighton Trail
More project information: 7 Years in and 14 to Go (PDF)
Over the next year, PDC and the ICURAC will discuss the remaining 14 years of the urban renewal area and the priority projects and activities that could be implemented with urban renewal funds (also known as Tax Increment Financing or TIF). An important part of that discussion will be to identify the key park projects for funding.
To support this conversation, the PDC and Portland Parks and Recreation (PP&R) have begun a project to update the parks implementation strategies that support and further the goals and objectives of the Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Area. This update will identify completed and on-going projects and identify future needs in the URA to create an improved process for the prioritization future parks projects.
