Central Gateway Master Street Plan Update

Open All | Close All

The existing Gateway Master Street Plan (below, left), adopted in 2004, was intended as a placeholder for a more detailed, revised street plan.  Since its adoption, it has been very difficult to implement, and not a single local street segment has been added in Central Gateway. Amending the current street plan will increase connectivity in Central Gateway, provide greater certainty to developers about street requirements, and open up new parcels for redevelopment.

At the Open House, attendees will be able to view the proposed revisions to the Master Street Plan and compare it to the existing plan.  While the maps at right/left are very similar, there are some significant differences:

  • The final plan (below, right) allows for a variety in street functions – some of which are intended to handle more auto traffic, others are designed for pedestrians and bicyclists.

  • The plan makes a concerted effort to minimize impacts to private property by respecting property boundaries and existing buildings.

A Stakeholder Advisory Committee comprised of Central Gateway property owners, developers, and city staff, began the process of developing a revised street plan for Central Gateway in 2007. After six meetings, the Stakeholder Advisory Committee reached consensus on a revised Gateway Master Street Plan, which can be seen at right/left.  Members of the Stakeholder Advisory Committee will be in attendance at the Open House to answer questions.
