& Logistics Subcommittee

The
Distribution & Logistics Panel's task
was to review an Industry Report prepared by the consultant assisting
with the Economic Development Strategy. This review will include an
assessment of:
-
the
industry description;
-
the
issues, challenges and opportunities facing the industry;
-
and
recommended strategies to address those challenges and opportunities.
The
panel was asked to review their Draft Industry Report to:
-
Determine
if there are gaps and/or missing elements in any of the areas listed
above;
-
Provide
input on priorities and tradeoffs among the strategies recommended,
recommend additional or alternative strategies, and identify the constraints
to successful implementation;
-
Evaluate
the cost of various strategies and suggest appropriate roles or collaborations
among organizations.
Industry
definition: Sale of capital, durable non-consumer goods,
raw or intermediate materials and supplies used in production or for
resale to wholesalers and/or retailers. Short and long term storage
and repackaging of products for distribution to wholesale, retail
outlets. Local, national or international transportation of products
by truck, rail, marine or air cargo services.
