Mayor Adams Announces International Business Awards
Mayor Sam Adams has launched the Mayor’s International Business Awards, a new program to encourage more Portland businesses to develop or expand international trade opportunities as a means of growing their businesses. Awards will be presented in five categories: Exporter of the Year, Service-Based Exporter of the Year, Global Trader of the Year, Best New-to-Export of the Year, and Greatest Export Potential. A designated steering committee will choose one winner from each of the categories. The winners will be announced during a special dinner program on Tuesday, May 19, in the Rotunda at City Hall.
“From advanced manufacturing and apparel to green design and engineering, Portland has a lot to offer the world market,” said Mayor Adams. “We want to acknowledge and reward businesses that are going global, making investments in the local economy and contributing to the growth of living-wage jobs here in Portland.”
Interested companies are asked to submit an entry form by May 1, detailing their export statistics, a brief history and description of the business, and dollar range of sales. All proprietary information submitted will remain confidential. Forms and additional information are available at www.pdc.us/mayorawards.
