PDC to Host Fourth Annual Lents Community Resource Fair

The Portland Development Commission (PDC) will host the fourth annual Lents Community Resource Fair on Saturday May 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Marshall High School Cafeteria, 3905 SE 91st Avenue.

The Lents Community Resource Fair will feature valuable resources like classes on home ownership, information on convenient home repair loans, and lead tests on toys.  More than 30 government agencies and non-profit organizations will be on hand to provide information on programs and services available in the Lents Town Center Urban Renewal Area (LTC URA).

The fair will also offer family activities, including a tour of the Portland Fire Bureau’s Station 11 fire engine, information on the Lents International Farmers Market, Leach Botanical Gardens, Multnomah County Library, and TriMet, to name a few.  There will also be information about the Lents Little League’s new ball fields in Lents Park, and the future of their old site at SE 92nd Avenue and Harold Street.

“This event is a great opportunity for neighborhood residents to learn about many local resources available to them and enjoy activities and free refreshments,” said Amy Miller Dowell, LTC URA Development Manager.

The Lents Community Resource Fair is a project of the LTC URA, which was established in September 1998.  It is one of eleven urban renewal areas managed by PDC to improve neighborhood livability, renovate buildings in need, create affordable housing opportunities, and boost economic activity and job creation.

Since the inception of the LTC URA, urban renewal funds have been combined with other monies to help:

Urban renewal funds have also been used to build or upgrade important infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, parks, schools, and part of the new MAX Green Line.  PDC is currently proposing to expand the LTC URA and increase available funds to bring the benefits of urban renewal to more people and businesses in the area.
