Blue Ribbon Committee Formed To Champion Portland Harbor Recommendations
Mark Rosenbaum, chairman of the Portland Development Commission (PDC), has announced the formation of a Blue Ribbon Committee to review the recommendations of an expert team formed by the National Brownfield Association (NBA). The team analyzed the redevelopment of the Portland Harbor and adjacent lands which make up the Portland industrial sanctuary. The work of the team was completed under the NBA’s Site Technical Assistance for a Municipal Project (STAMP) program. The Blue Ribbon Committee will include representatives from PDC, the Port of Portland, Metro and the Governor Kulongoski’s Office.
“The work of remediating industrial land is critical to PDC’s economic development mission and I believe the findings of the STAMP team underscore the importance of returning this land to productive use,” said Rosenbaum.
The STAMP team presented their findings at a meeting in Portland on Wednesday, October 3. To view the report visit: http://www.pdc.us/pubs/inv_detail.asp?id=758&ty=46
“The STAMP report provides an excellent framework from which to work,” said Rosenbaum. “The redevelopment of contaminated industrial lands encourages local economic growth and promotes the creation of quality jobs in the metro area.”
