Albina Triangle Slates Opening Celebration

Event to Coincide with National Night Out

WHAT: The Albina Triangle is completed and will hold its official opening tomorrow, Tuesday, August 7. Urban renewal funds have transformed the Triangle into a plaza with curved seating wall, trees, native plants, rockwork, stormwater filtration system, a chess table, and new lights. Community members ages 9 to 90 helped create art tiles that adorn the seating wall.
WHO:

Speakers at the event are:

  • City Commissioner Sam Adams
  • PDC Commissioner Bertha Ferran
  • Margaret Wright, Humboldt resident
  • Susan Law Godat, Humboldt Neighborhood Association and member of Interstate Urban Renewal Area parks subcommittee

Partners in the project were PDC, Portland Office of Transportation, Bureau of Environmental Services, City Repair Project, artist Lynn Takata, Polk Family Fund, and the Humboldt Neighborhood Association.

WHEN: Tuesday, August 7, 2007, 4:30 PM
WHERE: 4500 N. Albina at N. Prescott
Just north of the N. Mississippi Avenue business district.
WHY: The Albina Triangle, although small, adds much-desired green space to the Humboldt neighborhood, one of the few park-deficient neighborhoods in North Portland. This event coincides with events celebrating National Night Out—a national event promoting neighborhood spirit.
