Portland Regional Partners Will Hold Annual Meeting Tuesday, June 5, 2007

Developing a successful bi-state regional economic development approach is the focus of keynote address

Robert Marcusse, President and CEO, Kansas City Area Development Council, will be the keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the Association of Regional Economic Development Partners, an organization focused on economic development in the Portland metropolitan area. The meeting is slated for Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Meeting Room #E145/146. Lunch will be served.

Mr. Marcusse has been with the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) since 1991 as president and chief executive officer. KCADC is financially supported by more than 250 corporations and 38 units of local government in both Kansas and Missouri. The mission of KCADC is to attract new business and industry to the 18-county, bi-state metropolitan area.

Formed in 2003, the Association of Regional Economic Development Partners, Inc. (Regional Partners) works together for a vital and sustainable regional economy. The organization focuses on shared economic priorities and works to implement business retention, expansion and recruitment as well as marketing strategies and recommendations for policy development. Its 32 members include cities, counties and public and private sector economic development professionals in the region who have worked collaboratively for more than 10 years to retain and recruit businesses, and promote the metropolitan region as a vital economic center.

The region encompasses a seven-county area: Clackamas, Clark, Columbia, Multnomah, Skamania, Washington, and Yamhill Counties.
