PDC Development Forums – a series of informational and networking sessions focusing on property development in the Interstate Corridor and Oregon Convention Center Urban Renewal Areas.
All Development Forum sessions will run from 7:45 - 9:30 AM. To accommodate the unexpected interest, we are changing the final forum location on November 10, to the Portland Development Commission, Commission Room, 222 NW 5th Avenue. There is no charge for these sessions; however, your RSVP is requested. Click on the session(s) that you would like to attend, then fill in the requested information to reserve your space. Forum Kick-Off
This initial event will introduce several local developers who will describe how they transformed their early development dreams into reality, including the opportunities and challenges that they faced with acquisition, site conditions, financing and permitting.
May 12, 2008
Working with Architects
This forum will feature lessons learned from local developers, business owners, and architects who have worked together on the design aspects of the development process.
July 14, 2008
Project Financing
Representatives from PDC, Albina Community Bank, and a local broker will talk about navigating the lending process.
September 8, 2008
Design Review & Permitting
Representatives from the Bureau of Development Services (BDS) will discuss the goals of design review, how to strive for good design that meets the intent of the design review guidelines, and how to successfully navigate the design review and permitting process.
November 10, 2008
Construction
This forum is the culmination of the series and features construction basics, such as contracting, construction management, estimating, and dealing with those last minute design changes.
