With its concentration of finance, retail, sports and entertainment, convention, professional and governmental services, the Lloyd District is a key component of the Portland central city. Over the last decade, the City of Portland has made substantial improvements in the district, including new street lighting and sidewalks, park improvements and the realignment of some streets. Recent public projects, including the expansion of the Oregon Convention Center, improvements to Holladay Park, the proposed Interstate light rail line, and the Eastbank Riverfront, continue to build upon this earlier attention. Additionally, new office, retail, entertainment and housing development brings the Lloyd District closer to the lively, 24-hour area envisioned by the Portland Comprehensive Plan and Lloyd District Development Strategy.
